She Founded PinPath, LLC in 2019, a consultancy to further pursue her commitment to developing and implementing person-to-person intercultural exchange programs and skills development programs for university students and professionals with a focus on social entrepreneurship. Her clients include non-profit organizations, universities, and government organizations operating in both the US and Japan. She has held positions at the Embassy of Japan in Washington, DC (2008-2011), as an ALT on the Japan Exchange and Teaching Program (JET) in Sendai City (2011-2014), and most recently as the Senior Program Director at S&R Foundation (2014-2019). She was selected as an American delegate for the 2018 Tomodachi-Mitsui & Co. Leadership program operated by the U.S.-Japan Council. She previously served on the JETAADC Board of Directors from 2017-2020 and she currently serves on the John Whitfield – Manjiro Center for International Exchange (CIE-US) Board of Directors and S&R Foundation's Board of Directors. In 2024 she received the John and Hiroko Malott Leadership Award presented annually by the Japan-America Society of Washington, DC to an individual making a significant contribution to the future of US-Japan relations.Kotaro Shiojiri, PhD, President of the BoardKotaro Shiojiri is a Fellow at the Edwin O. Reischauer Center for East Asian Studies at Johns Hopkins SAIS, Visiting Associate Professor (Faculty of Law) at the University of Tokyo, Researcher at the Japan Institute of International Affairs (JIIA), Senior Fellow at the Mansfield Foundation, and Japan Chair Fellow at the Hudson Institute. He is the founder of Salt Partners LLC, a boutique consulting firm. He earned his B.A. in Law, M.A. in International Studies, and Ph.D. in Public Policy from the University of Tokyo, and his LL.M. from Harvard Law School. During his service at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan (2009-2019), he held various positions including Chief of Staff to Ambassador of Japan to the United States and officer in the G8/G20 Summit Office, Economic Policy Division, of the Economic Affairs Bureau. He is the recipient of the University of Tokyo President’s Award and has also served as an intern at the Council on Foreign Relations and Okamoto Associates.Georgette Furukawa, Secretary of the BoardGeorgette A. Furukawa is the Founder and CEO of Aestival Strategies, a non-partisan, referral-only consulting firm. With over 20 years of leadership experience across multinational corporations, government, and nonprofits, her expertise lies in parachuting into any issue areas or sectors to drive positive outcomes. In the Biden-Harris Administration, she served as Chief of Staff at the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Agricultural Marketing Service, Advisor in the White House Office of the Chief of Staff, and Director of Public Engagement at the Federal Permitting Improvement Steering Council. Her previous roles include senior positions at Unibail-Rodamco-Westfield, the U.S. Department of Energy (Obama-Biden Administration), the U.S.-Japan Council (USJC), and Sony. She also served in the U.S. Congress and the State of Hawaiʻi for former Lieutenant Governor Mazie K. Hirono. Furukawa is a former Board President of the JACL DC Chapter, a 2012 alumna of the USJC Emerging Leaders Program, a member of the 2026 USJC Japanese American Leadership Delegation, and a longtime community volunteer. Originally from Honolulu, Hawaiʻi, she holds a Bachelor’s degree from Lewis & Clark College and lives in Washington, D.C. with her 23-year-old turtle son, Kame-chan.HistoryThe Transpacific Future Center is a Washington D.C.-based 501(c)(3)  nonprofit organization. TPFC was Founded in 2018, and formerly named “Anniversaries, Inc.” It was created following a Joint Statement of CULCON (U.S.-Japan Conference on Cultural & Educational Interchange) to provide a platform for young opinion leaders to meet and collaborate. The organization was established to stimulate a new policy debate and act as a bridge towards deeper  engagement between the United States and Japan, the world’s two largest developed economies.Relaunching Anniversaries as the Transpacific Future Center would not have been possible without the generous support of Dr. Sachiko Kuno, President and CEO of S&R Foundation. Programmatic ModelAs we relaunch the organization in 2026, we intend to provide skills development programming and support for the:Next generation of U.S.-Japan Experts including Researchers, Business leaders, and Entrepreneurs.Experts not typically considered U.S.-Japan focused but who are critical to advancing cooperation in the Transpacific Region such as those focused on AI, robotics, entrepreneurship, social common capital, investment etc. Experts outside of the U.S./Washington D.C. and Japan/Tokyo to provide a window into rural U.S., Japan, North America, and the Indo Pacific region.Coworking Space Model In 2026, TPFC will officially launch our mission aligned coworking model. This will include:Dedicated private offices We are now accepting referrals for private office space. Requests for tours can be submitted through our website. Event space for members to host staff retreats, luncheons, evening receptions, and more. Co-working membership with access to hot desks, hourly private office space, and hourly access to conference rooms Virtual membership with business addressVirtual membership with space accessEvent space for members to host staff retreats, luncheons, evening receptions, and more. All memberships will eventually include access to the onsite Dr. George Packard Library donated by the United States - Japan Foundation and a digital resource library that is actively in development to be launched at a future date. TPFC will also host onsite events for members and potential members to further support community engagement and growth. 1816 Jefferson Pl NW History1816 Jefferson Pl NW was originally built around 1908 and converted into commercial office space in the mid-1900's. The building was purchased by S&R Evermay Foundation around 2018 and S&R has generously leased the building to TPFC to conduct its non-profit activities and pursue its mission. Anniversaries, Inc d/b/a Transpacific Future Center is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization in the District of Columbia.
